Diet

Eat snacks continuously

I’m one of those people who fall asleep after eating. Always have been. So when I write, I avoid eating. This is a grave mistake. We need sugar in our blood to think clearly.

The solution: eat a small snack every time you break. And you should break every 45 minutes.

Pendulating between starvation and out-pigging leads to lethargy, and also weight gain.

Avoid sugar-only snacks

Include simple sugars (donuts) but don’t eat just simple sugars.

1.
Peanut Butter Cookies and Diluted OJ

Fill a 16 oz glass with 50% OJ and 50% water or seltzer.

Put 4–6 large peanut butter cookies on a plate.

Put the glass and plate next to your laptop and consume as you work.

Pro: Easy and energies quickly.

Con: It’s simple sugar, so it makes you hungry and then you crash

2.
Sliced Boiled Egg on a Toasted-n-Buttered English Muffin

Boil 4 eggs for 7 minutes. When done, fill the pan with cold water and put a Bays English Muffin in the toaster. Peel two eggs and slice them with an egg slicer. Butter the muffins, arrange the egg disks, and add your seasoning.

Put the plate next to your laptop and consume as you work.

Goodly Tip
Use Bays Sourgdough. These are the best English Muffins in the US, if you care to know. The other brands are only English Muffins visually. Only these give you those crispy pockets, some of which are hot butter-juice. Only these are materially English Muffins, which are supposed to collapse like a frozen exoskeleton or diaphanous sponge.

Pro: The satiety lasts.

Con: It takes some preparation time.

3.
Applesauce

One 46 oz plastic bottle of unsweetened means two study-time meals.

4.
Austin Applesauce Anu Slicker

Measure:

1/4-full 46 oz plastic jar of unsweetened applesauce

Plop in:

8 heaping Tbsp of peanut powder (e.g., PB2, Naked)

1 Tbsp cocoa powder.

1/2 water

4 large ice-cubes

We have already covered the good news of how unsweetened applesauce is an ideal study snack, thanks to slow-acting fructose and hunger-sating pectin, and fiber for faux volume. But here is even better news: The nightmare of scraping the bottle for 10 minutes is over.

Add the plop-in ingredients, turn the bottle sideways (parallel with floor), and shake 10 seconds hard as possible back and forth. Then rotate 30 degrees and do it again. Do two rounds of this, which scrapes the sides and mixes everything well.

Let sit for one minute and then shake one last time.

(Don’t) Enjoy! (without me.)
