New theses on Feuerbach
New theses on Feuerbach. All that good stuff that we used to displace onto God is in advertising now. The TV is God. The computer is God.
Those commercials with women smiling and spinning around in joy. “Being fully yourself; or, dancing like no one’s watching.” Oozing surplus sexiness and fulfillment. Sucking in a guy’s asshole. Licking his back and sucking his balls while walking around a beautiful range of mountains …
That’s something you want. That’s a NordicTrack.™ That feeling is there. It’s real. (You just saw it!) Those people don’t look like actors. There’s no Brechtian reality preservation in operation. You are hypnotized—genuinely envious of real people having real experiences and gushing with real emotions. (Those actors work their way up to real states.)
The feelings are there. Being happy. Being powerful. All of our best virtues. The best a things a person can be, the best states a person can have. They even include critical thinking and wisdom inside commercials. The ability to “see through the con (wink wink)” is also something attractive and attachable to sellable crap we don’t want or need. And the person feeling these thing—that is itself a sellable type.
