Is anonymous tipping for revenge moral? A test.
There should be a national holiday to commemorate the victims of jealous lovers who called the police on them.
Everyone, at some time, has broken a law. If you’re close to someone, or have lived when them long enough, you will know of such times. When you get angry at your beloved, as happens during a breakup, you may be tempted to destroy them. One way to destroy someone without getting in trouble yourself is to call the police and make an anonymous tip.
For the sake of the victims of such phone calls, there should be a national holiday.
Call it [[clever joke here]] Day.
Is the act of anonymous revenge tipping moral? Does it pass Kant’s universalizability test? No—because if everyone called the police when they got angry, there would be nobody left on the streets to make such calls. So the maxim (It’s ok to destroy our ex lovers) fails the test.
