What we believe about Satan
I’m living through the waves!
In the 70s, he was real. A real physical person that can enter the world. Popular options: by birth (The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby), and by force (The Exorcist).
In the 80s he was after our children. His priests had organized baby sex organizations. They were in the military and almost normal and threatening … something. Music and AD&D were gateway artifacts to Satan. Doing Satan things (like AD&D, music, and kinds of makeup and dress) would make you like Satan through a kind of reverse Stockholm Syndrome: you loved Satan and thought it was cool and then sought to train yourself professionally to be his thrall.
But now Satan has returned to his roots—as a literary device. Satan’s come home! And now he can be used skillfully and well-meaning and in support of actually good causes.
