Footnote: Scary
So scary.
Consciousness can dis-identify with the body and thereby cut its connection with the universe. There’s a sheet of visual data and the whole thing is passing away.
I almost screamed. Again. Like the night with Pei at Dragon’s Lair. When things had flattened and abstracted to the very threshold of sanity, I looked at Yvonne and felt sick. I felt guilty, deserving of harm, destined for punishment. I realized that, if I had ontologically detached from my body right then, I would have been extinguished, or identified with a space even more tenuous than three-dimensional physical space.
I was free and on the wavefront and all of space was dripping and I was above or outside it all. Like Salvia. But I got myself there through narration and logic.
