Essential Universal Classic Monsters

One is to use the official Blu-ray set Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection as a guide. Doing so would yield EIGHT monsters. But it includes the unknown and irrelevant Phantom of the Opera from 1943—a joke of a film compared to the peerless silent original. Still, the Phantom counts as one of the EIGHT, so the list works by accident, for it is an in instance of the Gettier problem.

By the way, due to some technical glitch, while the 8 DVD set is only $99.99, the 8 Blu-ray set costs … $21.68. Maybe the monster friends did it just for me, just now, because I was writing about them.

Result: The Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon.
