Voice, The
The Voice refers to thinking in its aspect of occurrence. We identity with The Voice automatically. Inner thinking and speaking is taken as the center of the self. Is The Voice really a svabhavic center and ground of agency?
What can be prior to it? Nothing, it seems. When The Voice speaks, we think, “I did that.” I is the ground, and speaking is its most intimate and immediate effect. The distance between (1) inner speaking, aka thinking, and (2) willing to think, seems to be nil. The gap is so small it seems that all speaking must be the effect of will. No speaking it unintentional. It seems that my speaking rests on a core, my core, my true self, that is a center of purely magickal self-making, that it is causa sui.
Well, the terrifying experiments of Bernheim and Gazzaniga showed that this is not the case. It is not the case that self (enacted) rests on an aloof and self-causing core-self. Click below for the horrifying details.
