Fish oil
Fish oil is the (only) real superfood, and the only supplement that Sebastian Seung takes.
Leave everything else up to your taste—as long as your meals have the three basic foodstuffs (carbs, fat, and protein) you’ll be fine. It’s just that the omega−3 fatty acids are “essential,” meaning that you have to take them or you’ll die.
The three types of omega−3 fatty acids involved in human physiology are α-linolenic acid (ALA), found in plant oils, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both commonly found in marine oils. EPA and DHA are the most important ones, and your body can stitch them together from ALA if your diet sucks.
