MacOS Meditation Package
v 1.1
Year Zero students running Mac OS can now download the official AppleScript guided Vipassana (aka “mindfulness”) meditation program.
This is the canonical four-part meditation session combining Anapana and Vipassana.
The script is the same one used for Vipassana retreats at Tushita Meditation Center. Tushita, a leader in Tibetan meditative orthopraxy, is located in Dharamsala, India, where I spent a year working as LTWA editor and in the Translation Office of HHDL.
Features include:
- Uses the original soundtrack from the Tushita Meditation Center audio program.
- Let’s you choose how long you want to meditate and keeps you on it—all the way.
- Choose how many anti-daydreaming bells per section (four sections total).
- The meditation uses the four-part structure familiar with Goenka Vipassana students—two parts Anapana, two parts Vipassana.
The technique derives from the Satipatthana Sutta as preserved in Burmese monastic lineages and popularized by S. N. Goenka. Today the technique, being entirely empirical and physiological, is ubiquitous and is even taught at Tibetan meditation and retreat centers.
