We fall into possibility holding the lens of the past

We are falling into possibility yet we demand, from our very constitution, that the world cohere into intelligibility. Doing so superadds fictional necessity to a world that, in itself, is only bound by physical necessity. To this we add an additional layer of pseudo-necessity, a context of meaning and value, and then live our choice and action in conformity with it. We make, and inhabit, a story.

The past is alive here and now as The Story, and what we see is a reality whose possibility is limited to what is presented by The Story.
